Bishop Wordsworth's School
Parent's Association (BWSPA)
Welcome

As a parent or guardian of boys or, from September 2020, girls in the 6th Form attending the School you are automatically a member of the Bishop Wordsworth’s School Parents’ Association (BWSPA: a registered charity (No. 1081166), our aim is to secure more funding to inspire, educate and entertain all pupils.

Over the last three years the BWSPA has funded four basketball hoops, over a dozen ping pong tables (a firm favourite with the boys), a minibus which is shared with local community groups, some great bean bags for the Chapel and comfortable seating for the Library.

BWSPA events not only raise money, but also give pupils and parents the opportunity to have fun and socialise.  Annual events include the Year 7 Skittles Evenings, a Family Quiz Night, Fathers’ & Sons’ and Mothers’ & Sons Evenings and a summer visit by the Rain or Shine Outdoor Theatre Company as well as the Christmas Fayre.  We also run a private lottery called ‘1000 Club’ as well as Christmas and Summer Raffle Draws.

Members can participate in Charity Fund Matching schemes or raise funds for the School by simply shopping online via Easyfundraising, The Giving Machine and AmazonSmile.

The BWSPA Committee is also responsible for managing the 2nd hand uniform sales throughout the year, which has raised almost £1,500 in the last 12 months.

Our Committee

Have any questions? Want to get involved?  The BWSPA Committee meets about 6 times a year and you are all welcome.  Agendas and minutes are published on the School website (see link below).  Or you can simply volunteer to support BWSPA activities and events (see enclosed form or email us).  No special skills or abilities required - just enthusiasm, energy and the desire to do that little bit extra.

While the Coronavirus pandemic has made a dent in our plans this year, the Committee members continue to plan ahead so that we can be ready to restart as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

Please do consider joining our committee if you would like to get more involved with our efforts. Our meetings are a good opportunity to hear from the Head Master about what’s going on in school and to plan events. If you would like to know more please contact us for a chat, and any of the committee members will be very happy to tell you more.
